Dolna banya is situated in the Rila Mountain, in the picturesque Dolnabanska valley near the right shore of the Maritsa River, between Samokov and Kotenets, along the railway Sofia – Plovdiv. The relief is semi-mountainous, 640 m above sea-level, whit moderately – continental climate. The mild and healthy mountainous, pure air and the presence of warm mineral springs have transformed the village into a resort complex, officially announced a SPA resort whit a written order № 2620/1963 from Ministry of social health and public cares.

• Thermo – mineral waters are one of the main richness of the municipality; they possess almost the whole spectrum of useful properties and have the highest radioactive potential in the country. The common characteristic of the water is: weakly mineralized, alkaline, radioactive.

• The geothermal spring has a debit of 17 l/s and an unrevealed potential. The primary temperature is 62 – 64 C. Water is suitable for medical treatment and preventive maintenance of diseases connected to the locomotory system, posttraumatic conditions, diseases of the respiratory and nervous system, gynecological and skin complaints, secondary anemia’s, problems whit metabolism, as well as for drinking, but only for preventive maintenance of caries, because of the high contents of fluorine.

• The resort complex Dolna banya is protected from pollution, excessive heating and cooling, thanks to the Maritsa River. The blanket of snow stays 2 – 3 months and there are many sunny days at the same time.

• The white storks, symbol of high profit, are the biggest attraction in Dolna banya. In 1999, Dolna banya won the first place in the National competition for stock nests whit 21 white storks braces.

• The beautiful nature, nearness of the resort Kostenets and Borovrts, the “Rila National Park “, the rich and unused potential of the village, makes it an attractive tourist destination for various kinds of tourism – eco, rural, hunting, SPA and business trips.
